Introduction
EasyJet was established in 1995 and has become one of the world’s top low-cost-carriers. It carries more passengers per year than any other U.K. based airline including British Airways. It has a large reach, running over 500 routes between destinations in Europe, North Africa and Western Asia. Its main focus is on budget travelers. Its cabins and in-flight amenities are basic.
The airline originally only flew between London and Scotland, adding international flights in 1997 (to Amsterdam). It has since spread out throughout Europe. EasyJet’s business model was fashioned after successful US-based budget airline Southwest.
