Introduction
Caribbean Airlines is Trinidad and Tobago’s national airline. The carrier began service in 2007 when it took over routes run by then-defunct West Indies Airways. The airline began by flying short routes to the Caribbean and has recently added flights to Toronto and South America.
Caribbean carries over 1.5 million passengers annually. It mainly serves Trinidad and Tobago, though it also provides connecting flights to other islands of the Southern Caribbean. The airline is benefiting from another airline shut-down: it is taking over some of the routes flown by Air Jamaica, which will soon cease all service.

- No airline alliance
Frequent Flier Program and Airport Lounges
Caribbean Airlines has a frequent flier program called Caribbean Miles. Fliers can earn miles on flights operated by the airline and its affiliates. Business class passengers have lounge access at major airports served by Caribbean Airlines. This makes the airline attractive for business class travelers and those who enjoy flying premium class.
Conclusion
Caribbean Airlines is a good airline for travelers heading from North America to the Southern Caribbean. Fares are generally cheaper but the airline offers no direct flights to major vacation destinations in the Caribbean and flights from the US are limited to the East Coast. Still, the airline offers good customer service and reasonable prices, making it a good choice for budget fliers and people visiting smaller islands in the Southern Caribbean.
